Oct. 16 CoSIDA Officers Conference Call

I. Alan Cannon (Texas A&M), president, said he had had a phone call with Katie Hyde of Millsport to answer several questions regarding the Academic All-America Hall of Fame Banquet. He said that she is going to get back in touch with Verizon about the proposed banquet on the Saturday prior to the beginning of the 2003 CoSIDA Convention in Cleveland and will get back to him. Cannon also said that the Renaissance Hotel was holding the main ballroom in case the banquet is held Saturday. He said it would be necessary to incorporate the Past President's Dinner into the banquet, if it were held on that date. He also said that Millsport and Verizon would handle all necessary arrangements for the Hall of Fame Banquet. II. Cannon said that Wally Johnson will no longer be coordinating the CoSIDA exhibitors. He said Eric McDowell (SUNY-Brockport) has shown interest in the position. III. Rod Commons (Washington State), second vice-president, said he was forwarding a box and CD with the CoSIDA awards information to Joe Hernandez (Ball State), third vice-president. IV. Tammy Boclair (Vanderbilt), first vice-president, said she is continuing to work with the local organizing committee in Cleveland and the Renaissance Hotel staff in planning for the 2003 Convention. V. Maxey Parrish (Waco, Texas), director of on-line services, said the web site migration has not been completed, even though there was an original Oct. 1 completion date. He said adjustments were still be being made and bugs worked out. VI. Jeff Hodges (North Alabama), secretary, said the CoSIDA Directories are in the mail. He said the November Digest was also due back from the printer in the next few days. VII. Dave Wohlhueter (Ithaca, N.Y.), treasurer, said that the student who had received a CoSIDA scholarship but then had not attended the school despite receiving the money, had returned half of the money and was working to pay back the rest. VIII. Wohlhueter said that his records showed that the last CoSIDA dues increase was in 1993-94, and that he had also determined that the annual cost of the CoSIDA Directory and Digest averaged out to a greater cost per person than the CoSIDA membership dues covered. An active membership dues of $50 was discussed but the matter will be brought before the full board on its next call. IX. The Academic All-America website proposed by Millsport was discussed. X. There was no other old or new business and the call was adjourned.
