SID Inducted Into Southland Hall of Honor
PLANO, Texas - Former Southwest Texas State University football great Reggie Rivers, long-time University of Louisiana at Monroe sports information director Bob Anderson and former Southeastern Louisiana University track and field coach and administrator Al LeBlanc have been chosen to represent the 2002 class of entrants into the Southland Conference Hall of Honor.
Induction ceremonies are scheduled for December 10 in San Antonio, Texas, at the Westin La Cantera Resort beginning at noon.
Anderson spent his entire 33-year athletics career at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, serving as sports information director from 1961 until his retirement in 1994. In addition to his SID duties, Anderson also worked as assistant athletics director, directed the university's news bureau, was an assistant professor in the journalism department, and served as the student newspaper and yearbook advisor.
Along with being named to the Southland Conference Hall of Honor, Anderson was inducted to the ULM Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame.
Nicknamed "The Dean" of Louisiana SIDs, Anderson helped establish the sports information profession as it is known today.
