Southern Conference Adopts “Athletics ARCHIVE”
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced that it will no longer have to sift through huge filing cabinets or search hard drives when looking for important information.
“After seeing the Athletics ARCHIVE demonstration, we recognized that it would profoundly improve productivity and security within the Conference office, and also provide better service to our member institutions,” said Danny Morrison, Commissioner of the Southern Conference.
“Athletics ARCHIVE merges our filing cabinets with all of our computer files, archives critical information even as far back as our formation in 1921, and most importantly, allows us to find any document based on every word within every document with a mouse-click. It also protects our deteriorating historical photos and paper documents by making them digital.”
Athletics ARCHIVE, a product of Document Imaging & Storage Corporation (www.4DiscImaging.com), is a content management imaging and storage solution specifically designed for managing collegiate and professional sports organizations records.
Kevin Carver, DISC’s President, said “we recognized that collegiate and professional teams and leagues, even with the proliferation of the Internet, still live in a maze of paper. Athletics ARCHIVE provides secure storage and search tools to not only digitally manage paper information, but to merge paper with existing computer and Web assets centrally. Since all files are “full-text searchable” and by automatically converting them to enhanced .PDF’s, we provide huge benefits to every department – compliance, administration, marketing, development, media relations, etc.”
Powered by Ricoh Silicon Valley’s eCabinet, Athletics ARCHIVE automatically captures documents from any networked device – high-speed scanners, digital copiers, printers and existing PC’s, indexes each document by every word in the document, stores the documents centrally and uses a standard Web browser interface with comprehensive search tools to provide easy access from anywhere.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to put this technology into action at a high-prestige organization like the Southern Conference,” said Carver, “and we’re confident that its’ cost-justification will catch on quickly within sports organization around the country.”
Admits Morrison, “We were also surprised at how affordable the solution was, given the benefits to our member institutions and our ongoing operations.”
