CoSIDA Board Conference Call Minutes
CoSIDA BOARD MINUTES
January 22, 2003
I Past President Pete Moore (Syracuse) discussed the on-line directory and the possibility of a new One-Step Process that could incorporate membership information with the Directory, provide email communication for members by committees, district, etc., and streamline the process of updating and maintaining member information for the secretary, treasurer and Director of On-Line Services.
Moore said the on-line directory had been completely updated from the 2003 printed Directory and he would include all updates that had been provided since the Directory was printed. Moore said decisions would have to be made as to who will update the directory and that Jeff Rubin of ICS would be in touch with secretary Jeff Hodges about specifics of using the system.
II. Treasurer Dave Wohlhueter (Ithaca, N.Y.) said CoSIDA was facing a potential problem with the number of rooms reserved in Cleveland for Saturday night, June 28. CoSIDA had reserved 95 rooms at the Marriott and Renaissance but - since the Convention would actually begin that Saturday night with the Academic All-America Hall of Fame banquet - it was anticipated that the number of CoSIDA members coming in on Saturday would greatly increase. He had requested an additional 50 rooms from each property but getting the rooms didn't look promising. He said he would continue his converstaions with the hotels to acquire additional rooms.
III. First Vice-President Tammy Boclair (Vanderbilt) said she had been in touch with the Cleveland host committee about the program and panels. She was getting input on the four major panels dealing with Respect, Nutrition, Dressing for Success and Principles of Public Relations.
IV. Third Vice-President Joe Hernandez (Ball State) said the CoSIDA award information had been sent to Maxey Parrish for the website and Jeff Hodges for the Digest.
V. Treasurer Dave Wohlhueter (Ithaca, N.Y.) said all of the checks from the Rochster Convention had finally been received and deposited.
VI. Secretary Jeff Hodges (North Alabama) said the February Digest was in the mail. He also said the CoSIDA membership was nearing 1,900 for the first time.
VII. Director of Marketing Ed Carpenter(Boston University) said he had talked to several potential convention sponsors. One was a likely luncheon sponsor.
VIII. With the loss of some sponsors from the 2002 Convention, there was discussion about the 2003 Convention's Awards Banquet. The Board felt it was important to keep it as a marquee event and seek additional sponsorship money.
There was no other old or new business and the call adjourned.
