Coastal Carolina Adds Two Staffers
Coastal Carolina University's Athletic Media
Relations office has hired Kent Reichert as assistant director and
Sarah Barbee as athletic media relations intern, Assistant Athletic
Director for Media Relations John Martin announced.
"I am thrilled to have these two as part of the Athletic Media Relations
staff at Coastal," Martin said. "These are two quality people who have the
drive and dedication to make the AMR office one of the top ones in the
league, the region and the country. I feel very fortunate to have two
people of this caliber on the staff, as they will make a difference for
our student-athletes, coaches and administrators."
Reichert joins the staff from Kent State University, where he served as
the assistant sports information Director since November 2000. There, he
served as the primary media contact for KSU's nationally-ranked field
hockey and men's golf programs, as well as women's basketball, wrestling
and softball. He also assisted with gameday duties for football and men's
basketball.
Reichert earned his bachelor's in public relations in 1999 and
master's in sports administration in 2001 from Kent State, during which
time he served as a student assistant and graduate assistant in the sports
information office.
He was the media relations coordinator for the 2001
NCAA Field Hockey Championships and assisted the men's basketball SID at
the 2002 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament when the Golden Flashes made
their run to the Elite Eight. He also has worked as the official scorer
for five years with Akron Aeros, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland
Indians.
Barbee comes to Coastal from Embry-Riddle University, where she served on
the sports information staff during the 2002-03 school year. There she
assisted with all sports information aspects of serving 11 NAIA sports,
including working as the primary media contact for women's soccer and
men's and women's tennis.
She served as the media relations director for
the 2003 NAIA Men's and Women's Golf Championships, while also acting as
the sports information assistant for the Florida Sun Conference. A 2002
graduate of Duke University, she was a student athletic trainer during her
collegiate career.
The Coastal Carolina Athletic Media Relations office oversees the media
