Falk Wins Service Award

Mike Falk, Muhlenberg College sports information director, has been selected as the 2003 recipient of the Scotty Wood Tournament Community Service Award.

Falk will be honored at the pre-tournament breakfast Friday, Nov. 21.

The award is given annually to an individual who, over the years through his or her profession, volunteer work or personal interest, has performed a positive and valuable service for the betterment of basketball at Muhlenberg and in the Lehigh Valley basketball community.

The Scotty Wood Tournament has flourished into one of the nation’s most prominent Division III tipoff tournaments. A considerable part of the tournament’s success over the last decade can be attributed to the exceptional efforts of Falk.

Some of his many Scotty Wood responsibilities include: compiling the tournament program and team media guides, sending out letters to faculty and staff inviting them to join the festivities of the weekend, increasing awareness through the local media, keeping statistics for all eight games over a two-day period, providing a staff to assist with the many obligations of the tournament and coordinating the All-Tournament teams.

The 22nd Scotty Wood Tournament will take place Friday and Saturday at Memorial Hall. Women’s teams from Gwynedd-Mercy, Kean and Mary Washington will join the host Mules. The Muhlenberg men’s team welcomes Elms, Moravian and Roger Williams.
