CoSIDA Board
Conference Call
Board Meeting
December 4, 2003
(Full Board Call)
I. President Tammy Boclair (Vanderbilt) introduced Wayne Block
(Christopher Newport), Chairman of Committee on Committees for his
report. Block gave an update on committee assignments and efforts to
get more members involved in committees.
II. Boclair said we are also looking for people to be involved in the
Family and Wellness Committee.
III. Boclair and Past President Pete Moore (Syracuse) gave an update on
proposals concerning the Academic All-America Hall of Fame. After
discussion, Third Vice President Doug Dull (Maryland) made a motion to
table a decision until the next full call (Dec. 18).
IV. Boclair gave an update on the Cousy Award. Barb Kowal of Texas will
be the Division I chair, Stan Wagnon of the Lone Star Conference will
be the Division II chair and John Arenberg of Emory will be the
Division III chair. Each chair will also select three other SIDs (one
each from the West, Central and South Regions) to fill out the
committees.
V. There was discussion about the NCAA Championship programs produced
by Host Communications. Many SIDs had expressed displeasure in several
areas. At-Large representative Larry Happel (Central College) gathered
information from several sources and suggested that contact be made
with the NCAA to express many of the concerns that were addressed to
Host at last year's CoSIDA Convention.
VI. There were no updates from the vice presidents concerning the
workshop program, social and awards, other than to say that they were
all progressing.
VII. Secretary Jeff Hodges (North Alabama) said the December Digest was
in the mail and he was completing the January issue.
VIII. At Large Representative Chuck Sadowski (Austin College) said he
was accepting a media relations job at the University of New Haven.
Call was adjourned.
