CoSIDA Board Minutes
CoSIDA BOARD MINUTES
March 5, 2003
(Full Board Call. All members present except: Dave Wohlhueter, Pete
Moore and Fred Stabley, Jr.)
I President Alan Cannon (Texas A&M) said he had talked to Millsport and
was told he would continue to be updated on the search for a new
Academic All-America sponsor.
II. Cannon asked the Board members to
contact the various committe chairs in May or early June so that each
committee would have their reports in prior to the Cleveland Convention.
He then assigned specific committees to each Board member.
III. Cannon discussed the CoSIDA Winter Call and said their were only six
callers. First Vice President Tammy Boclair (Vanderbilt) coordinated the
call. Kevin Ruple gave updates on the Cleveland convention. Among the
questions was the possibility of listing on Board minutes of the members
on the call. It was also requested that all CoSIDA District teams be posted
in a timely manner on the website.
IV. Second Vice President Rod Commons (Washington State) reviewed a
list of possible social activities for the Cleveland Convention and various
options available.
VII. Boclair said she was continuing work on finalizing
workshop panels and program and had provided a rough sketch of the
program for the April Digest and for the web site.
VIII. Third Vice President Joe Hernandez (Ball State) said he had received
about a dozen nominations so far for CoSIDA Awards. He expected the
number of nominations to pick up with the forms now posted on the web
site and in the Digest.
IX. Director of Marketing Ed Carpenter (Boston
University) discussed CoSIDA's equity built up with Multi-Ad and the
possibility of doing a printed program with the award winners for the
CoSIDA Convention. Rich Rosenthal (Southern Oregon) asked about
re-working the CoSIDA brochure put out several years ago about the value
of the Sports Information Director. Secretary Jeff Hodges (North Alabama)
said he had a small quantity of the brochures and would distribute one to
each Board member to review. Cannon said the brochure would be
discussed on the next Board call.
X. Director of On-Line Services Maxey
Parrish (Waco, Texas) said he had been getting quite a bit of traffic on the
CoSIDA feed-back option and said the job activity had also picked up
considerably.
There was no other old or new business and the call adjourned.
