Wagnon to Head Lone Star Media Relations

RICHARDSON, Texas - Lone Star Conference commissioner Fred Jacoby has announced that Tarleton State Sports Information Director Stan Wagnon has accepted the position of the league's media relations director. Wagnon, 29, replaces Justin Tinder as the conference's primary media contact. Tinder, who had been with the LSC since 1999, resigned his position earlier this week to assume a similar role with the Oklahoma City Redhawks, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. "We are very pleased to land someone of Stan's experience and abilities for this position," Jacoby said. "He has demonstrated through his work at Tarleton and even before that at Midwestern State University and the University of Central Oklahoma to be a capable professional one who has earned the respect of his colleagues, coaches and administrators in the Lone Star Conference." Wagnon will oversee all facets of the NCAA Division II conference sports information operation, including handling statistics, administrative issues, NCAA reporting and maintenance of the LSC official website - www.lonestarconference.org He will begin work with the league on Monday, April 14. Wagnon has worked in the sports information field for the last 10 years, including the last three at Tarleton. He earned a bachelor's degree in public relations from UCO in 1995 where he assisted Mike Kirk in the university's sports information office. Wagnon is currently completing requirements for a master's degree in sports management from Midwestern State where he spent four years as the school's SID from 1996-2000. Wagnon's father, John "Skip" Wagnon, has spent the previous 17 years as the director of athletics at the University of Central Oklahoma before announcing his retirement earlier this spring.
