Rumley Named Associate AD
Yakik Rumley has been promoted to associate athletics director/director of
sports information at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
Rumley graduated
from Hampton University with a bachelor's in mass media arts
(broadcast journalism) with a minor in sports management in 1997. He received
his master's in sports management from Adelphi University in 1999.
Rumley spent two years as the assistant athletics director/sports information
director at Brooklyn College. While at Brooklyn College, he was responsible
for the promotion and publicity of 16 Athletics Programs. He updated records
and roster information, maintained accurate statistics, wrote game stories,
press releases and notes.
Rumley gained experience supervising sports
information assistants and reporting stats to the National Collegiate
Athletic Association and the City University of NY Athletic Conference
and other media outlets. Prior to his time spent at Brooklyn, Rumley
was a game reporter sports statistician for ESPN/SportsTicker.
Prior to working at Mount Saint Vincent, Yakik was an adjunct professor at Fashion Institute
of Technology where he taught an introductory basketball course.
Yakik enters his second year at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. He will be
responsible for scheduling all spring sports, reporting stats to the
NCAA and the Skyline and Hudson Valley Athletic Conferences and preparing game stories
and game day programs for all home contests.
Additional responsibilities
include overseeing all home game setups, evening supervision, assistant
coaching for men's volleyball, while assisting the Athletics Department in
all aspects of athletics and recreation.
