Hilbert Named Ass't AD at Chicago
University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today that Dave Hilbert has been named assistant director of athletics for sports information.
Hilbert, 37, has served as the sports information director at Chicago since 1993. During his tenure at Chicago, he has promoted the school's 19 intercollegiate sports and served as the host SID for NCAA Division III regional competition in men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, and wrestling.
He has received 10 CoSIDA publication awards and a CoSIDA writing award.
Prior to his arrival at Chicago, Hilbert was the SID at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW) from 1991-93 and Florida Atlantic University from 1989-91. At IPFW, he accompanied the Mastodon men's volleyball team to the NCAA championship semifinals in 1991 and 1992.
While at Florida Atlantic, he served as the host SID for the 1990 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.
Hilbert is a 1988 graduate of Michigan Technological University, where he worked as a student
assistant under current Michigan Tech SID Dave Fischer. He earned a master's degree in sports administration from St. Thomas (Fla.) University in 1989.
