Mountain West Shuffles Staff

Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson announced the following staff changes: Jim Andrus and Dan Butterly have been promoted to associate commissioners; Brett Lowder was reassigned to marketing coordinator; and Kelly Slater has been retained as assistant director of championships. Andrus was one of the original staff members when the MWC began operations in 1999, as assistant commissioner, business and finance. With over 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, Andrus oversees the conference’s budgeting, financial, and human resources activities in addition to serving as liaison with the coordinators of officials for football, volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. Also an original staff member, Butterly joined the MWC as assistant commissioner, marketing. The conference’s corporate partnership program, marketing, promotions, merchandising, licensing and advertising come under his purview. Butterly is also responsible for men’s basketball scheduling and directs the conference basketball championships. Since October, 2000, Lowder has served as an assistant director of communications/webmaster. He maintains oversight of the conference website – TheMWC.com – and will assist in marketing and hosting efforts for the 2004 first and second rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at Pepsi Center. A 2002 graduate of Colorado College, Slater has been serving as a special projects intern. She will assist the assistant commissioner, championships in the administration of the MWC’s championship sports.
