Ricker Moves to Sunshine Conference
Leslie Ricker has been named
media relations assistant/membership services liaison for the Sunshine State
Conference, Commissioner Don Landry announced.
Ricker completed her master's of sports administration and master's of business
administration degrees at Ohio University earlier this month. She graduated
from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in December 2000 with a degree in
communication.
A native of New Holstein, Wisc., Ricker spent last summer working in the
media relations department for the Green Bay Packers. She has also worked
for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Class A affiliate of the Seattle
Mariners, the Nashville Sports Council and Super Bowl XXXVI in San Diego.
As a member of the Sunshine State Conference office, Ricker will serve as
the primary liaison for senior woman administrators, faculty athletics
representatives and student-athlete advisory committees at each of the
conference's nine member institutions. She will also assist the SSC staff
with media relations, web site maintenance, statistical and record
compilation, championships administration, compliance and other duties
assigned by the commissioner.
The SSC conducts conference championships in 14 men's and women's sports at
the NCAA Division II level. The Conference currently has eight active
members -- Barry University, Eckerd College, Florida Southern College,
Florida Tech, Lynn University, Rollins College, Saint Leo University and the
University of Tampa -- and one provisional member, Nova Southeastern
University.
Ricker will assume her responsibilities on August 15.
