Yaman Takes Indiana State Post
Jason Yaman has been named director of athletics media relations Indiana State University Athletics’ Director Andi Myers announced.
“Jason comes to us with seven years experience in a variety of media areas,” Myers said. “His most recent experience as the director of sports information and marketing at Saginaw Valley State University has provided him hands on experience in managing media relations for 15 varsity sports.
"We know that his experiences will enable him to hit the ground running and we are pleased to have him join the staff for Sycamore Athletics.”
Yaman will assume the post on Sept. 9 and be the primary contact for volleyball and men’s basketball as well as overseeing the entire office.
“I am excited to become a part of the Indiana State University athletic department,” Yaman said. “ISU has established itself as an institution which has enjoyed both academic and athletic success. I look forward to continuing my career as a Sycamore.”
Yaman spent the past two years as the Director of sports information and promotions at Saginaw Valley State, where he was responsible for the production of athletic publications, media relations, statistical record keeping, day-to-day web site maintenance, home event management, promotion of SVSU’s student-athletes, coaches and coordinating the efforts of the athletic department. prior to his appointment at SVSU, he worked for two years as a graduate assistant for the University of Michigan sports information department, where he worked with the Wolverine football and hockey teams.
He earned a master's degree from Michigan, specializing in sports management and administration. Before joining the Michigan athletic department, Yaman worked for one year as the sports director for Marathon Media of Wisconsin. The Ann Arbor, Mich., native graduated with distinction from Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, majoring in sports communication and broadcasting. During his senior year at Indiana, Yaman interned as a field producer for the Sporting News Radio Network in Chicago, Ill., covering the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls and Northwestern University football.
