K-State Adds Two Staffers

The Kansas State Department of Athletics announced the recent hirings of Marlene Navor and Kenny Lannou as assistant sports information directors. Navor will serve as the primary media relations liaison for the nationally-ranked women's basketball program and women's tennis team, while Lannou will work with the volleyball and baseball programs at K-State. A 2000 graduate of Washington State, Navor previously served as an assistant sports information director at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she was in charge of women's basketball, men's and women's soccer and track and field. Her women's basketball media guide earned Best Cover accolades by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and also finished in the top 10 nationally among all Division I schools in 2001-02. Her soccer media guides have also won Best in Nation publication honors the past two years. Prior to UNLV, Navor worked as an athletic communications assistant at the University of Connecticut and was a four-year student assistant in the WSU Sports Information Office. She earned her bachelor's degree in communication with an emphasis in print journalism and a minor in sport management. While an undergraduate, she also served as a writer and sports editor for The Daily Evergreen, one of the top daily college campus newspapers in the nation. A native of Olympia, Wash., Navor is a member of CoSIDA and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). Lannou, a 2001 graduate of Baylor University, joins the Wildcats after spending a year as an assistant sports information director at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. There, he handled the daily media relations efforts for baseball, women's basketball, volleyball and soccer, and was in charge of all publications for the department. Lannou also served as the head of all stat crews for Demon athletic events and was the radio play-by-play announcer for Northwestern State baseball. Prior to his appointment at NSU, Lannou was a media relations assistant at Auburn University where he served as the secondary football contact as well as the primary contact for women's gymnastics and track and field. He also handled assistant editor duties for the 2001 Auburn Football Illustrated game day program, which was named Best In Nation by CoSIDA. Lannou also served as a student assistant in the Baylor Media Relations Office while completing his undergraduate coursework and interned with the Houston Astros organization in 2001. A native of Baytown, Texas, Lannou is a member of CoSIDA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
