Fields Promoted at USCA

Brad Fields, the sports information director at the University of South Carolina Aiken for the past four years, has been promoted to assistant athletic director for communications and promotions, USCA Athletic Director Randy Warrick announced. Fields oversees the media relations, sports information, and game management of all 11 sports at USC Aiken and maintains the official athletics web site. Fields is in his fifth year as head of the USCA sports information department. After coming to USCA in August 1999 at an intern, Fields was promoted to sports information director in October 1999. “Brad has been a tremendous asset to our department. His is a hard working individual with a strong work ethic and dedication,” Warrick said. “Brad has been innovative and constantly striving to improve the sports information department since his arrival on campus. He deserves this promotion.” In his time as SID at USCA, Fields has won two citations for excellence in publications by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). His 2001 baseball media guide won “Fourth in the Nation” for Division B while his 2002-03 women’s basketball media guide was awarded “Second in District 3." Other innovations Fields has been responsible for include the “live stats” feature for home basketball and baseball contests as well as live audio internet broadcasts for home and away basketball games as well as other selected events. Last month, PacerSports.com was launched as the new web site of the USCA athletic department. The 27-year-old native of Ashland, Ky., earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish from Centre College (Danville, Ku/) in 1998. Centre is ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top 50 liberal arts institutions in the country. Fields is married to the former Julie Krug of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
