Board Meeting

(Full Board Call)
President Tammy Boclair (Vanderbilt) checked the role. Chuck Sadowski,
Tom DiCamillo, Dennis O'Donnell and Carol Hudson were not present on
the call.
I. First Vice President Rod Commons (Washington State) asked about the
surveys from the CoSIDA Convention in Cleveland. Boclair said she had
received a good response and was compiling the results. Commons said he
would like to see them to get input for the planning for the 2004
Calgary Convention.
II. Second Vice President Joe Hernandez (Ball State) said he had
touched base with the contact people in Calgary and would stay in touch
with the local host committee and the CoSIDA Social Committee in making
plans for 2004.
III. Third Vice President Doug Dull (Maryland) discussed plans for the
2004 CoSIDA Awards. He plans to have an article in the next CoSIDA
Digest and to post on the website encouraging more nominations for the
awards.
IV. Director of On-line Services Maxey Parrish (Waco, Texas) said there
was still a lot of job activity on the CoSIDA website and he said
numerous hirings were posted.
V. Treasurer Dave Wohlhueter (Ithaca, N.Y.), said memberships were
steadily coming in. More than 1,000 memberships had been received prior
to mailing invoices to those who had not renewed.
VI. Secretary Jeff Hodges (North Alabama) said he was expecting
delivery of the CoSIDA Directory around October 1 and the October
Digest immediately.
VII. Director of Marketing Ed Carpenter (Boston University) said he had
talked with Katie Hyde about sponsorship possibilities for the Academic
All-America program. He said some additional checks from the Cleveland
Convention had come in but some were still outstanding.
VIII. Boclair opened discussion of charging for job positings on the
CoSIDA website, reviewing a proposal from Parrish. Wohlhueter made a
motion that CoSIDA accept the proposal, charging $50 for members and
$100 for non-members to advertise job openings on the website. Seconded
and passed with two opposed.
VIII. Past President Pete Moore (Syracuse) said the site selection
committee was proposing that the 2008 CoSIDA Convention be in Tampa,
Fla., at the Marriott Waterside on June 28-July 2. Judy Willson (Sun
Belt Conference) made a motion to accept the recommendation and Doug
Dull seconded. Passed unanimously.
IX. Under new business, Wilson said she had begun preliminary work on
notebooks for board members and a notebook for host committees. She
said she would report back to the Board on the Oct. 2 call.
X. Boclair discussed several items, including the Wellness Committee,
the 50th Anniversary Committee and a possible Farewell Party at future
conventions.
