Frank Cash Checks in at Quincy

Frank Cash has been hired as the school’s sports information director, Quincy University Athletic Director Pat Atwell announced. He succeeds Ryan Dowd, who left the position last month after five years to pursue other interests.

Cash comes from the Quincy Herald-Whig where he was a sports writer for 12 years, the last five of those in a full-time position. While at the Herald-Whig, Cash covered area high school sports, coordinated the compiling of area statistical leaders and handled layout responsibilities.

“We are very excited to have Frank join our team here at QU,” Atwell said. “Frank’s love of sports and skill as a writer should fit well with the demands of the position. I know he has done an excellent job organizing the record books at Quincy Notre Dame and is very well respected locally which will be advantageous in this new endeavor.”

Cash is a graduate of Bowling Green (Mo.) High School and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Culver-Stockton College in 1991. While in college, he was a student assistant for the men’s basketball team and was a student intramural director. Cash was an assistant football coach at Quincy Notre Dame High School from 1992-99 and was the school’s assistant athletic director from 1997-99. He worked as an admissions counselor at MacMurray College during the 1995-96 school year.

“I’m looking forward to this new challenge in my career and life,” Cash said. “Sports information is an area I have always been interested in, and I feel this is the right opportunity to pursue a new direction.”
