Fischer Heading to USA Hockey
Dave Fischer, assistant athletics director for
communications and marketing at Michigan Tech, is leaving the University
after a nearly 18-year career.
Fischer, who will join USA Hockey's staff as its director of public and
media relations in Colorado Springs, Colo., began his career at Michigan
Tech on July 1, 1987.
"Dave has been a major player in the overall development of Michigan
Tech's athletic program," said MTU Athletic Director Rick Yeo. "He has
earned the respect of his peers during his tenure and is very deserving of
this next step in what, I am sure, will be a very successful career.
Although we are going to miss his enthusiasm and dedication, we wish him
the very best in his new challenge."
"Dave Fischer has done an outstanding job for Michigan Tech," said Dean
Woodbeck, senior director of university communications. "We will miss his
experience, his very positive attitude, and his sense of humor. I
certainly wish him the best at USA Hockey ."
"I've enjoyed every minute of my time at Michigan Tech," said Fischer.
"and I'm most thankful to all the great people I've had the chance to work
with over the years. Our family will miss the beautiful area and the
wonderful people here, but we'll be back to visit often. The opportunity
to work for USA Hockey is very, very exciting and we're looking forward to
a new chapter in our lives."
A search for Fischer's replacement is underway.
