UMass Hires Two Assistants

Seth Gerard and John Sinnett have been named assistant
directors for the University of Massachusetts Media Relations Department as
announced by Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Jason Yellin.

"Seth and John bring a wealth of experience in different areas to our
office," said Yellin. "Seth has done an outstanding job at UMass in his
tenure over the last few years and has wonderful relationships with coaches
and student-athletes at the school. John brings a diverse background from
several top-level schools in the South. He is very professional and has
worked with many sports in his experiences."

Gerard enters his third season with the UMass Media Relations Department
after serving two years as a staff assistant. He covers the women¹s
basketball,  softball, and field hockey teams as well as assisting with
several other sports at UMass.

Gerard has worked at several conference and national championship events. He
was the media coordinator for the 2003 NCAA Division I Field Hockey
Championship as well as the 2003 and 2004 Atlantic 10 Softball
Championships. He has also worked two Hockey East Championships and one NCAA
Hockey Regional. Gerard graduated from UMass in 2002 with a bachelor's
degree in Sport Management.

Sinnett joins the UMass Media Relations following a two-year stint at
Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.  He is the main contact for men¹s
soccer, women¹s lacrosse, the men¹s and women¹s cross country teams, the
men¹s and women¹s track and field teams and serves as the secondary contact
for men¹s basketball.

At Campbell, Sinnett was the primary contact for volleyball, women's
basketball, softball, and men¹s and women¹s track and handled the duties of
maintaining the athletic department web site.

Prior to working at Campbell, the 2001 graduate of Wake Forest University
worked for one year in the East Carolina Media Relations Department.

During the 1999 and 2000 basketball seasons, Sinnett served as the main
statistician at both men¹s and women¹s Atlantic Coast Conference Tournaments
and in 2000 at the NCAA Eastern Regional Tournament.  He also worked for
Host Communications as a writer covering the 2000 NCAA National Track &
Field Championships and interned with the Carolina Panthers during their
1999 training camp session.
