Raymond Named AD at Trinity

Jeff Raymond has been named director of athletics at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill., and will begin his new duties on July 1.  He is currently the assistant athletic director and sports information director at Westmont.

“I am excited about this professional opportunity and am looking forward to the new challenges,” said Raymond. “However, it will be difficult to leave Westmont because of the quality of people that I have been able to work with over the past seven years. It’s been an honor for me to be part of the Westmont family.”

Raymond arrived at Westmont in 1997 as the school’s first full-time sports information director. He added additional duties as assistant athletic director in 2001 and also served as the tournament director for the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship held in Santa Barbara last November.

During his time at Westmont, Raymond has been instrumental in developing the Warrior Sports Online web site, and has garnered numerous awards for his athletic publications. He has also been named the winner of the NAIA Gary Spitler Memorial Award for Excellence in Publications in each of the past four years.

"First of all, I want to express my deep gratitude to Jeff for the amazing work he has done among us these past seven years,” said Westmont athletic director Dave Wolf. “He has elevated the office of sports information to an elite level through his expertise, talent, work ethic, and professional approach.”

"Westmont's loss, however, is Trinity Christian's gain and Jeff will be a tremendous athletic administrator,” added Wolf. “Jeff, Deborah, and Eli are a great team and they will infuse Trinity with wonderful leadership, vision, and direction. I will look forward to working with Jeff as a colleague in the NAIA on behalf of our student athletes."

Prior to arriving at Westmont, Raymond spent five years as the sports information director and assistant track and field coach at his alma mater, Taylor University (Ind.). He also worked for three years at the Trans America Athletic Conference in Athens, Ga. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Taylor in 1986 and a master’s at the University of Georgia in 1988.

A search will begin immediately to fill the sports information director position.
