Nuesch, Sareault Garner Lifetime Achievement Awards

Fred Nuesch of Texas A&M-Kingsville and Jack Sareault of the Northwest Collegiate Sports Service will each receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America at the group's annual workshop June 28 in Calgary, Alberta.

The award is presented to CoSIDA members who have served at least 25 years in the profession and are retiring or leaving the profession. 

Nuesch has long been one of the pillars of the organization, having served as secretary for 23 years and on the board of directors for 28 years. His entire 36-year career in sports information has been at Texas A&M-Kingsville, formerly known as Texas A&I. 

Through his distinguished career, Nuesch has received numerous honors for his work. A member of the CoSIDA Hall of Fame, he has also been honored with its Arch Ward Award, the Warren Berg Award and a Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the hall of fame at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Paris Junior College and the NAIA. He has received the NCAA Division II Extra-Mile Award, the NAIA Sports Information Director of the Year honor and twice received the NAIA Award of Merit. 

Nuesch also was the sports editor of the Paris Daily News, was a sports writer at the Arkansas Democrat and sports editor of the Malvern (Ark.) Daily Record. His non-collegiate experience includes work at the Olympic Games, the World University Games and the Goodwill Games.

Sareault retired recently after 40 years in the sports information business. He began his career in the business as a student at St. Martin's College in 1953.

From 1966 through 1994, he served as the sports information contact for NAIA District I, a tenure which overlapped his service as the Northwest Conference SID from 1978 through 1997.

He was the coordinator of the Northwest Collegiate Sports Service from 1967 through 2002, assisting with the college division institutions in the northwest.
