Jessica Lenchner has been named Media Relations Assistant/Membership Services Liaison for the Sunshine State Conference, it was announced today by Commissioner Don Landry.
A native of Commerce, Texas, Lenchner graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in December 2003 with a major in journalism and a minor in art and architectural history. She has an extensive background in journalism, having covered both sports and news for the Bryan-College Station Eagle and The Battalion newspapers.
A published photographer, Lenchner was involved in numerous service activities at Texas A&M, including Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, The Big Event, Reed Rowdies and the 12th Man Student Foundation.
As a member of the Sunshine State Conference office staff, Lenchner will assist with media relations, web site maintenance, statistical and record compilation, publications, championships, compliance and other duties assigned by the Commissioner. Lenchner will also serve as the primary liaison for Senior Woman Administrators, Faculty Athletics Representatives and Student-Athlete Advisory Committees at each of the Conference’s nine member institutions.
The SSC conducts conference championships in 14 men’s and women’s sports at the NCAA Division II level. The Conference currently has eight active members--Barry University, Eckerd College, Florida Southern College, Florida Tech, Lynn University, Rollins College, Saint Leo University and the University of Tampa -- and one provisional member, Nova Southeastern University.
Lenchner will assume her responsibilities on August 15.
