Lacy Tabbed New Assistant at Angelo State

M.L. Stark Hinkle, sports information director for Angelo State University, has announced the hiring of Drew Lacy as assistant sports information director for the University.

"Drew is a tremendous find for our office," Hinkle said.  "He brings a vast range of experience and established media contacts throughout the state.  I'm excited to have him join our staff."

Lacy has served the past year as the intern for Division I University of Houston.  Lacy was the primary contact for the Cougar volleyball, tennis and nationally-ranked women's basketball and softball teams.  He assisted with the promotion of basketball star Chandi Jones for national player of the year honors, and assisted with the publicity for national coach of the year Joe Curl.

Prior to his tenure at Houston, Lacy spent four years as a student assistant at Sam Houston State University.  He helped in game-day operations and statistics for each of the Bearcat sports at SHSU.  He also served as the sports editor and editor in chief for the nationally-recognized school newspaper The Houstonian.

Lacy also has experience as a sports and beat writer, working five years for the Huntsville Item in Huntsville.  While he was with the Item, Lacy won second place in the 2003 Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Writing Contest for feature series and team effort for a six-week series on college and high school off-season football programs.

Lacy, a native of Pearland, received a bachelor's of science in journalism from SHSU in 2003.
