Paul Capobianco has been hired as an assistant sports information director at Wisconsin, Justin Doherty, sports information director, announced.
Capobianco began his new post on July 1.
“Paul has been with us for five years and has done an outstanding job,” Doherty said. “I am pleased to have him join us on a full-time basis. He has a bright future in our profession.”
Capobianco will handle media relations for the Badger men’s hockey program, a role he served last season. His first four years at Wisconsin were spent as the main contact for women’s ice hockey. He also oversees coverage of the men’s and women’s open and lightweight crew programs.
Capobianco also served for three years as the publicity director for the women’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association. A three-year letterwinner and member of Notre Dame’s 1994 national championship fencing team, Capobianco graduated in 1996 with a B.S. in biology.
A native of Selden, N.Y., Capobianco and his wife, Laurie, live in Madison. They are expecting their first child in January.
