Herman Hudson has been named assistant director of athletic
media relations at SMU. Hudson will be the primary media contact for men’s
basketball and volleyball. He began his duties at SMU on July 26.
Hudson joins the Mustangs after three seasons as the director of public
relations and broadcasting for the Dallas Sidekicks. With the Sidekicks, he
served as the team spokesman and handled all aspects of the radio and television
agreements.
Hudson joined the Sidekicks after spending the 2000 National Football League
season with the Indianapolis Colts Public Relations staff. He spent the previous
two years in the Indiana University sports information office. Hudson has also
assisted at many NCAA and Big Ten championship events, including the NCAA
Division I men’s basketball championships.
He was the media director at the 1999Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament and the assistant media coordinator for the1999 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. He previously assisted the media relations at the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight in
Louisville, Ky., from 1998-2000 and the NCAA Division I & II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis in 1998 and 1999.
Prior to Indiana University, Hudson attended the College of Mount Saint Joseph
in Cincinnati, Ohio. There he played football for three seasons and baseball for
two seasons while majoring in chemistry.
Hudson has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Indiana University. He was born August 20,
1974 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is single and resides in Richardson.
