Bill Turnage will be the sports information director at Florida Southern College, effective August 1, Athletics Director Lois Webb has announced.
A veteran of 23 years in the sports information profession, Turnage has been Florida Southern’s assistant SID since August 2002. He joined the Florida Southern staff after serving 21 years as the sports information director at Central Missouri State. His position at Central Missouri was eliminated in June 2002 for budgetary reasons.
Turnage has been a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee since 1987 and currently serves as the college division national coordinator for volleyball and softball.
Tim Carpenter, who has been Florida Southern’s SID since 2002, will return to the assistant sports information director’s position at his request. Carpenter was Florida Southern’s assistant SID for six years before being named to the head SID position when longtime SID Wayne Koehler took another position on campus.
