Recent Dordt (Iowa) College graduate Jacque Scoby was recently named Adams State College’s assistant sports information director, Associate Athletic Director/Sports Information Director Chris Day announced. A native of Sabetha, Kan., Scoby completed her bachelor's degree in English with a literature concentration in May.
A 4-year basketball player and javelin thrower for the Defenders of Sioux Center, Iowa, Scoby was also a student assistant in Dordt's sports information office and was the sports page editor for the Dordt Diamond, the school’s student newspaper.
“I am very excited that Jacque is joining our staff,” Day said. “Her previous experiences in sports information and journalism, along with her overall love and knowlege of sports make her a perfect fit for this position.”
While at Dordt, Scoby qualified for the NAIA National Track & Field Championships during all four years of her collegiate javelin career, placing sixth in 2002 to earn All-America honors. She was also an Academic All-American in track and field in both 2003 and 2004.
Scoby is a 2000 graduate of Sabetha High School, where she played basketball and ran cross country/track and field. As a senior, Scoby tied for second at the 4A Kansas State Track & Field Championships in the javelin.
In addition to her sports information duties, Scoby is beginning work on her master's degree in health and physical education at ASC.
