Southwest Missouri State Completes Staff

A promotion for Assistant SID Jeff Williams and the addition
of newcomer Erin Smith will complete the full-time staff in the Southwest
Missouri State Sports Information office of SID Mark Stillwell for
2004-05.

Williams was promoted to associate sports information director
July 1 after three years as SMS Assistant SID. Former Associate SID
Michael DeFord left SMS in June to pursue other opportunities. A native of
Little Rock, Ark., and a 1997 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University,

Williams was a graduate assistant in SMS Sports Information while earning
a master’s degree from SMS in 1999. He spent two years as Assistant SID at
the University of Evansville before returning to SMS in 2001. Primary
sport coverage responsibilities for Williams will be SMS volleyball and
baseball.

 Smith takes over as the Bears’ new assistant SID after two years
as a sports information intern at the University of Nebraska. Smith, a
native of Lawton, Okla., will handle primary coverage for Lady Bears
basketball and SMS softball.

She is a 2000 graduate of Oklahoma State University and earned master's
degree in 2002 from the University of Arkansas while working in the women's SID office.

Smith’s appointment is subject to approval by the SMS Board of Governors
at the next regular board meeting.
