Western Illinois Adds Graduate Assistants
Ashley Bishop, Matt Holmes and Greg Mette have been added to the Western Illinois University Athletics Media Services Department as first-year graduate assistants, assisting in the daily coverage of Western’s 20 Division I sports programs.
Bishop, a 2004 graduate of Western Illinois, served as a student worker in the Media Services office during her senior year. A native of Mount Carmel, Ill., Bishop served as the primary contact for women’s golf last season, and will add primary media relations duties for men’s golf as well as men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s swimming and diving this year.
Holmes joins the Western Illinois staff after working for two years at ESPN Radio in Indianapolis. The 2002 University of Indianapolis graduate has worked in the U of I sports information office since 2000 where he served as the play-by-play voice of the Greyhounds’ football, basketball and baseball teams. Holmes, a Sonora, Calif., native, will handle the primary duties surrounding the volleyball and softball programs, and will assist with the men’s basketball coverage.
Mette, a 2004 graduate of the University of Dayton, spent four years as a student worker in the Flyers’ sports information office before serving in the marketing/compliance offices at the University of Texas. While at Dayton, Mette served as the primary contact for men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s crew. The Teutopolis, Ill., native will cover men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field for Western Illinois.
