College Sports Information Directors of America

Wingate University has named David Sherwood assistant athletic director for sports information and game operations. He has 19 years of experience serving as the university’s director of sports information.

In his new position, Sherwood will continue to serve as the media contact for Wingate’s 17 NCAA Division II men’s and women’s teams including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, softball, swimming and volleyball. He also will be responsible for preparing all sports venues prior to games. 

Sherwood holds a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Wingate University. He was received the Bob Kenworthy Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the summer of 2003. The Kenworthy Award is given annually to a CoSIDA member for community involvement and accomplishments outside the sports information office.
