Dear SIDs:
The Rotary Lombardi Award is celebrating the 35th year of honoring the top lineman or linebacker in college football and, as always, we appreciate all the support each of you lends to our efforts. To date, those efforts have resulted in more than $3 million in donations for the American Cancer Society.
One part of our marketing and publicity efforts is an email newsletter that we are cranking back up with the start of the season. After learning of two sons of past finalists who are currently playing college football (John Ritcher of North Carolina State and Lee Roy Selmon Jr. of USF), I wanted to poll the rest of CoSIDA to see if there are any others. I want to highlight these players, but wanted to get a good idea of how many stories there are out there.
At the same time, I'd also like to locate any of our past finalists who are coaching at this time. I know of Tracy Rocker (Arkansas) and Rich Glover (New Mexico State) at the college level and Jack Del Rio (Jaguars) and Mike Singletary (Ravens) who are in the NFL.
