Morrison-Archer Heads to Conference USA

Courtney Morrison-Archer has been appointed director of media relations at Conference USA, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. Morrison-Archer’s responsibilities will include serving as the primary contact for men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s golf.

Morrison-Archer will be responsible for the production of several publications and coordinate the awards selection process for five sports. She will spearhead the media operations at the men’s and women’s soccer tournaments and serve as co-coordinator for media operations at the men’s basketball tournament while assisting with operations at the league’s other media events.

Morrison-Archer has spent the past year as sports information director at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She served as the media contact for each of TWU’s sports, coordinated a re-design of the university’s website and was the media coordinator for the 2004 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in April.

Since arriving in Texas, Morrison-Archer did freelance work for Texas Christian University and served on the media relations staffs of the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl and the SBC Cotton Bowl.

Previously, Morrison-Archer spent more than two years as director of media relations for the Orange Bowl Committee in Miami. In her role at the Orange Bowl, she served as the media contact and primary spokesperson for the FedEx Orange Bowl, including the 2001 National Championship. Morrison-Archer developed and executed public relations and community relations campaigns surrounding the bowl and several other Committee events.

Morrison-Archer also served two years as Director of Communications at the Atlantic 10 Conference, spent four years as the assistant sports information director at Xavier (Ohio) and one year as assistant SID at Syracuse.

A native of Gallipolis, Ohio, Morrison-Archer earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Miami (Ohio) University in May, 1991 and a master’s degree in Sport Management from West Virginia University in December, 1992. She is married to Todd Archer and the couple has a two-year old daughter.
