Wade Steinlage has been named sports information director at William Penn University, athletic director Mike Laird announced.
Steinlage comes to William Penn from Angelo State University in San Angelo,
Texas, where he spent the previous year as an intern in Sports Information
office. At Angelo State, he was the primary contact for women's soccer,
volleyball, men's basketball, and softball.
"We're very happy to have Wade on board at William Penn," Laird said. "He
brings great experience and dedication and will be an outstanding contributor to
our athletic staff and University."
Steinlage will serve as the primary media contact for all Statesmen and Lady
Statesmen athletic programs. His responsibilities will include producing media
guides and game programs, doing statistical work at all home contests,
interacting with media and other SID offices, updating the athletics web site,
writing previews and recaps of events, and other duties as assigned.
"I am extremely happy to be back working in Iowa," Steinlage said. "I am well
aware of William Penn and its strong athletic and academic tradition and am
excited to be a part of it. I look forward to seeing what I can bring to the
University and its Sports Information office."
Steinlage was introduced to the sports information world as a student worker
at Central College in Pella from 2001-2003. Prior to that experience, he was a
sports writer for the Oskaloosa Herald and Pella Chronicle newspapers in 2001.
He also interned for the West Ealing Newspaper Group in London.
The West Union, Iowa, native received his bachelor's degree in Communication
Studies and Sociology from Central College in May of 2003.
Steinlage, 23, is single and resides in Oskaloosa.
