Jon Newberry and Theresa O'Hern have been named sports
communications graduate assistants at Georgia State University,

Newberry, who is in charge of covering the cross country and baseball
programs, came to Georgia State from the Florida Institute of Technology
in Melbourne, where he served as the assistant sports information
director in 2003-04. During his stay at Florida Tech, Newberry was the
primary contact for several sports at the NCAA Division II school.
In the summer of 2003, he was a media relations intern for the Richmond
(Ind.) Roosters minor league baseball club. Newberry earned his
bachelor's degree in business administration in May 2003 from Atlanta's
Emory University, where he was a member of the cross country and track
teams.
O'Hern is the main contact for the women's soccer, golf and track
squads, and came to State from the University at Albany (N.Y.), where
she served as a media relations assistant last year. In 2002-03, she was
a sports information intern with the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington, which is in the same conference--the Colonial Athletic
Association--where Georgia State will be heading in another year or so.
O'Hern oversaw many sports at both Albany and UNC Wilmington after
having the position of assistant director of marketing and promotions
for the Jamestown (N.Y.) Jammers minor league baseball team in the
summer of 2002. She received her bachelor's degree in communications
from the State University of New York College at Fredonia in December
2001.
