Veteran SID Willson Heads to Louisiana Monroe

The Sun Belt Conference has announced
that Judy Willson, assistant commissioner for media
relations, has left the league to become the
athletic media relations director at the University of
Louisiana at Monroe.

Willson was with the Sun Belt for the past four years,
heading media relations efforts for numerous
conference championships, as well as the NCAA Men’s
Final Four and Women’s Volleyball Championships.

Possessing more than 15 years of experience in media
relations, Willson is an active member of the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and
currently serves on its board of directors.

"This is an outstanding opportunity for Judy and we
wish her well,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner
Wright Waters. “Her skills are very much appreciated
and will be a tremendous asset to ULM. We will hate to
see her leave our office but we look forward to
working with her at a member school for many years
into the future.”

Prior to joining the Sun Belt, Willson worked for two
years at Sun Belt-member Denver. She was also the
media relations director of the Lone Star Conference
and the sports information director at Eastern New
Mexico and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association.

At ULM, Willson will oversee publicity efforts for the
Indians’ 17-sport program.
