Tennessee Honors Bud Ford

The University Tennessee Lettermen’s “T” Club officially honored current
Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations Harris D. "Bud" Ford
during a special on-field ceremony at halftime of the Oct. 1
UT-Mississippi football game.

The club granted Honorary Member status to Ford along with former
assistant football coach David Cutcliffe and current Executive Associate
Athletics Director and former assistant football coach Gary Wyant.

Ford became Tennessee’s first full-time assistant sports information
director upon his graduation from UT in 1966 and was promoted to sports
information director in 1987 and to associate athletics director in 2000.
The Knoxville native supervises a media relations staff of four full-time
employees and numerous student assistants who work to promote and
publicize Tennessee’s athletics programs. Ford was named to the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame in 2001.

Honorary membership to the “T” Club may be bestowed on an individual for
outstanding achievement reflecting favorably on the University of
Tennessee and specifically its men’s and/or women’s athletic programs.
Nominees shall not have been a letterman in any sport at the University of
Tennessee and should not have been previously awarded this distinction.
The award is considered the club’s highest honor.
