The Tennessee Tech University sports information staff has added two interns for 2005-2006.
Joining the staff are Brittany Franklin of Cookeville, a 2005 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, and Thomas Corhern of Shelbyville, who will receive his bachelor’s degree from TTU in December.
Franklin and Corhern will work with Rob Schabert, assistant athletic director for sports information and broadcasting. Also on the staff is Michelle Cunningham, who returns for a second year.
Franklin, 23, will serve as the primary contact for men's and women's golf and baseball, and will also assist with other sports.
A 2000 graduate of Cookeville High School, she returns to her hometown to assist in the role of keeping Tech fans and followers informed about the university’s athletic achievements. She graduated in August, 2004, magna cum laude from MTSU with a Bachelor's of Science in Public Relations.
Franklin has gained experience in the news field by partaking in an internship at the ABC news affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., during the summer of 2003. She has experience in design, writing, and editing, and also worked with MTSU's Campus Recreation for two years, helping with publications, event planning, and design.
At Cookeville High School, Franklin she lettered in basketball and was a part of the girl’s basketball team that reached the TSSAA state championships.
Corhern, 23, is the primary contact for the soccer and softball programs, and also handles much of the departments graphics and design projects.
He has worked in the Tech sports information office since 2003 as an undergraduate, including a student internship position during 2003-2004. Among his duties have been writing, design of advertising and publications, photography and statistics. An English/journalism major, he will receive his bachelor's degree in December.
Corhern first served as the secondary contact for the TTU women's soccer team in 2002 and has been the primary contact for three years. He was also the primary contact for softball last year, following the team to the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
A native of Shelbyville, he graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 2000.
