The UMKC Athletics Department recently announced several
administrative changes within the department. James Allan was promoted to the
Sports Information Director, Robert Greim was named the Assistant Athletics
Director for Student-Athlete Services, Jana Ross was named the Senior Director
of Marketing and Communications and Will Rudd was named the Associate Athletics
Director.
“These changes and re-alignments will allow us to become a more efficient staff
as UMKC Athletics continues to conduct the business of an intercollegiate
athletics program,” said Bob Thomas, Director of Athletics, in making the
announcement. “Our entire staff is committed to the development, both on the
competitive playing fields and in the classroom, of all our student-athletes and
the fiscal responsibility of operating a quality Division I athletics program.”
Allan, a native of Hampton, Iowa, was promoted to the Sports Information
Director on November 1, after previously serving as the assistant director from
July through October. The 2004 graduate of the University of Iowa worked in the
Media Relations office at TCU last year and at Iowa as an undergraduate for four
years.
Greim was named the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services.
Greim previously served UMKC as the Director of Student-Athlete Services since
August of 2004. Prior to joining the staff in Kansas City, Greim served as the
assistant director of the office of academic support at the University of
Wyoming.
Ross was promoted to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. In
this role, she will oversee all aspects of athletics marketing initiatives and
communication services. Ross joined the UMKC staff in 2001 and has served as
the Director of Marketing and Promotions since July 2003.
Rudd was named to the post of Associate Athletics Director after serving as an
Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations since February of 2005. In
his new role, Rudd will maintain his previous duties in addition to expanded
responsibilities for direct oversight of key projects identified by the Director
of Athletics.
