Nate Weyant Takes SID Post at Rollins

Former intern Nate Weyant has been hired as the school’s sports information director, the Rollins College Athletic Department announced. He takes over for veteran director Dean Hybl, who has taken a position with the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“We are fortunate to have such a qualified person as Nate available to join us in mid-year,” said Rollins Athletic Director Phil Roach. “Nate demonstrated outstanding skill and work ethic during his time here as an intern. Our staff and student athletes are pleased that Nate has rejoined our family.”

Weyant comes to Rollins from Seminole Community College where he served as the media and public relations specialist. While at SCC he coordinated the College’s first ever athletic media day and was in charge of publicity for the Raiders’ four sports.

Prior to SCC, Weyant served as a sports information intern at Rollins during the 2003-04 seasons. He was the primary contact for the Tars nationally ranked men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball and baseball teams along with managing sports information and media relations for the 2004 NCAA Division II South Region baseball tournament.

A native of Bettsville, Ohio, Weyant earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Wilmington College (Ohio) with a concentration in public relations and journalism. He worked under Bill Salyer as a student assistant for three years in the Quakers’ sports information office, assisting with football, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s basketball. Weyant was also a two-time NCAA Division III All-American for the WC track and field team.
