Blackson Named Sports Information Director at USA South

Cory Blackson has been named sports information director of the USA South Athletic Conference, Conference Commissioner Rita Wiggs announced.  Blackson will oversee all media relations, publications, public relations duties, and maintain statistics and records for the USA South's 14 intercollegiate sports.

For the past year Blackson was the assistant sports information director at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.  He was the primary sports information contact for Capital's men's and women's soccer, men's basketball and men's and women's golf teams.  He also served as the assistant men's golf coach for the Crusaders last fall.

"This is a great opportunity for me personally and professionally," stated Blackson.  "I'm looking forward to working with the great people and being a part of the superb institutions that make up the USA South."

Blackson's career in intercollegiate athletics began as a student at Capital University.  As an undergrad, he served as a student assistant for the Crusaders men's basketball program.  After earning a bachelor's degree in integrated social studies in 2002, he stayed at his alma mater as the director of basketball operations for the following two seasons.

“I am delighted that Cory will become our Conference SID," stated Wiggs.   "His personality, professional demeanor and knowledge of sports information will be great assets to the conference.  I look forward to working with him."

A native of Coshocton, Ohio, Blackson is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
