As part of the Association’s Centennial celebration in 2006, ESPN will air two one-hour programs highlighting the 100 Most Influential NCAA Student-Athletes. The network will also produce and air 25, 30-second vignettes drawing attention to the “greatest moments” in NCAA history.
The national office is seeking nominations for both projects. Please participate in this exciting opportunity by submitting the requested information via e-mail to nominations@ncaa.org.
Each nomination for the 100 Most Influential Student-Athletes should include the name (playing name and current name), college and years attended, sport(s) participated in, major, honors and awards received, current occupation and contact information including address, phone and e-mail address, reason for nomination and significant and/or memorable accomplishments. Nominations for the “greatest moments” should include the name of student-athletes or the team(s) involved in the moment, the college, the date of the moment, its significance, where those who participated are now, if known and a brief summary or description of the moment.
For more information or to access an electronic form please visit www.ncaasports.com and click on the NCAA Centennial icon for more information. For the purposes of the project, the 100 Most Influential Student-Athletes is defined as those who have made a significant impact or major contributions to society. Criteria for the greatest moments nominations are left up to the nominator’s discretion.
ALL NOMINATIONS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 2005.
Two NCAA membership panels will select and rank the student-athletes and moments. An announcement regarding both groups of honorees will be made as the NCAA Centennial nears.
