Christian Anderson, a media relations assistant in the Army athletic department since 2003, has been promoted to media relations assistant director.
Anderson will remain the primary media relations contact for sprint football, men's and women's cross country, wrestling and men's and women's track and field. He will chronicle each team's season in its entirety on the Army Athletic Association's web site, and design media guides for each sport as well.
Additionally, Anderson will continue to work with the Army Sports Network during home football broadcasts, and will serve as the official statistician for all home volleyball and basketball contests. Last year, he served as Army's media relations contact for the annual Pride Bowl, which pitted Army and Navy against each other in sprint football.
Prior to arriving at West Point, Anderson served as a student assistant for two years in the Syracuse University Office of Athletic Communications. During his time at Syracuse, Anderson worked under the direction of Sports Information Director Sue Edson.
His duties at Syracuse included assisting in the production of media guides and game notes, writing feature stories and game recaps and assisting at a myriad of Syracuse athletic events. Anderson worked at the 2002 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional, which was held at the Carrier Dome.
Anderson, 24, graduated cum laude from Syracuse University's renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in public relations.
A native of South Sutton, N.H., Anderson currently resides at West Point, N.Y.
