Syracuse University named Matthew Lynch and Mark Vellek athletic communications interns for the 2005-06 academic year. At Syracuse, Lynch will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, women’s rowing, women’s lacrosse, cross country and track and field. He will also assist with football and women’s basketball. Vellek will serve as the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s rowing and tennis. He will assist with men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse.
Prior to his appointment, Lynch worked as a media relations intern at the University of Massachusetts. He served as the primary contact for the women’s tennis team and secondary contact for the baseball team. He was responsible for writing and designing the women’s tennis and baseball media guides and daily web site maintenance.
Lynch also served as an assistant in the sports communications office while a student at Springfield College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Springfield in May 2005.
Vellek worked as an assistant/intern in the Bloomsburg University sports information office from 2002-2005. At Bloomsburg, he wrote press releases, assisted in daily web site maintenance, and helped produce media guides and game programs.
Vellek earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Bloomsburg University in May 2005. He was a member of the men’s tennis team.
