School Name Change: Missouri State University
The name Missouri State University becomes effective August 28,
2005, for what is Southwest Missouri State University until that
date.
Missouri State remains in the Missouri Valley Conference for 19
men's and women's sports. Football competes in the Gateway Football
Conference and field hockey is a new member of the Mid-American
Conference in 2005-06. A new logo has been prepared and is available,
while the nickname (Bears) and school colors (maroon and white) remain
the same.
Missouri State's athletics web site address as of Aug. 28
becomes www.missouristatebears.com. Full-time staff and new email
