CIAA Mourns the Passing of John Holley

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association regrets to report that John Holley, for whom the CIAA Sports Information Director of the Year Award is named, passed away last night after complications with diabetes.

John Holley was a veteran publications, public relations and sports information practitioner with more than 25 years of experience in the field.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Holley directed the public information, publications and sports information programs at Albany (GA.) State College for 14 years. In addition, he held public relations posts at Morgan State University, Mansfield (PA.) University, and Lincoln (MO.) University. Holley also served as sports information director at Morehead (KY.) State University and Norfolk State University.

A North Carolina Central University graduate, Holley was a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Communications Media of Mid-America, Black College Sports Information Association and the College Sports Information Directors of America.

There is a memorial service scheduled for Saturday (June 11) at 2 p.m. in his hometown of Baltimore at March Funeral Home.

The time and place of final rites for award-winning sports information director John Holley,who retired from Norfolk State University several years ago, have been announced.

A memorial service for Mr. Holley will be held at March Funeral Home, Saturday, June 11, at 2 p.m.
