Michelle Fakier has been named sports information director for men’s athletics at Nicholls State University. Fakier’s hiring is contingent on approval by the Louisiana University Board of Supervisors.
“Michelle has a solid background in sports information,” Athletic Director Rob Bernardi said. “She will be a fine addition to our athletic staff.
Fakier, who prepped at E.D. White Catholic High School, will handle football, men’s basketball, baseball and men’s and women’s golf. Fakier will also assist with a variety of tasks as well, including updating Nicholls athletics website and managing the football and baseball press box on game days.
Before coming to South Louisiana, Fakier served as the Champions Assistant in the Sun Belt Conference for one year. During her stint at the New Orleans office, Fakier designed several championship manuals, assisted with the overall management of all 18 conference championships and helped with the coordination of academic/athletic awards programs.
Prior to her one-year stint at the Sun Belt Conference, Fakier assisted in the Sports Information Office at LSU from 1999-2004. While at LSU, she served as the assistant sports information contact for the men’s basketball team and assisted the director of sports information with game day operations for all home games for the men’s basketball team, as well as the 2003 national champion football team.
“I am very exciting about returning home and being a part of the Nicholls family,” Fakier said. “I would like to thank Rob for giving me the opportunity to promote Colonel athletics.”
A resident of Thibodaux, Fakier earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies from LSU in 2004 and is engaged to be married in July 2006 to Jonathan Keife, currently the head men’s basketball coach at E.D. White Catholic High School.
