Patrick Moore Takes Ass't SID Post
Patrick Moore has been named assistant sports information director at the University of Detroit Mercy and began his full-time duties at Detroit on July 11, after serving as the SID Intern the last two years. He will continue to serve as the primary media contact for softball and the defending Horizon League Champion women's soccer team along with overseeing media relations for the women's basketball program as well as assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Titan Sports Information Office.
Moore arrived at Detroit from Madonna University in Livonia, Mich., after graduating in 2003 with a bachelor's in journalism and public relations. The Detroit native worked in the Crusader Sports Information Department for four years and served as the primary baseball contact all four years along with closely working with the nationally ranked women's volleyball and men's and women's soccer squads.
During his undergrad career, Moore also served as the Director of Media and Community Relations for the Michigan Panthers, a member of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate league, an NCAA-sanctioned wooden bat league. He was also the Editor and Chief of the Madonna Herald, the student newspaper at MU in 2002-03 after serving as the sports editor the previous year.
"I think this is a great opportunity for me to continue working for a great department," said Moore. "I have been lucky enough to work with very successful teams in my brief stay thus far here at Detroit and I look forward to that continuing and giving me even more opportunities to gain more knowledge in the field of media relations. The Department has given me the chance to work with some great student-athletes and coaching staffs and I am thankful for that chance and their continued faith in me to be part of taking Titan Athletics to the next level."
Mike Roth, a 2004 graduate of the University of Michigan will take over as the sports information intern on August 1.
