NCAA Seeks Help Marketing Women's Basketball
The NCAA has recently distributed information about the branding initiative for women's basketball. Two activation kits were sent to each institution and are provided to give strategies to increase awareness of your women's basketball program and attendance at games.
To assist with this effort, we are developing a women's basketball best practices section of the NCAA Basketball Marketing Resource at:
We need your help in collecting women's basketball materials and plans reflecting the five attributes that define women's basketball:
- Fundamentally sound student-athletes play women's basketball
- High quality of play and competition
- Role models for young children
- Family-oriented brand of entertainment
- High level of sportsmanship.
The types of samples we are looking for could be any of the following:
- Media guide
- Other print collateral (e.g., autograph piece, schedule card/magnet/table tents, trading cards, ticket piece, game program, print ads, posters).
- Radio and television advertisements
- Video and matrix board advertisements
- Web site
- Traditions (e.g., student-athletes going into stands following games, special student section)
- Youth promotions (e.g., kids club, ball kid program, halftime entertainment, clinics)
- Marketing and/or public relations plan showing efforts to reach youth, the men's basketball fan and the casual women's basketball fan
