The 2005-06 CoSIDA Board of Directors has undergone some early changes. Tammy Boclair, who served as president in 2003-04 and was to serve as second past president this year, has left the sports information profession. Boclair has taken a job in the private sector with Alday Communications. She has promised to remain active with her CoSIDA brethren, and serve as a host for the 2006 Workshop in Nashville.
Due to her leaving the Board, the CoSIDA Constitution states that the most recent third past president who is rotating off the Board can be asked to fill the vacated role. Pete Moore of Syracuse has graciously accepted the invitation to return to the Board and will fill out the rotation Boclair would have held.
Pete will now be the second past president and has agreed to a two-year extension of what has already been a seven-year term. We are very grateful to Pete for his willingness to serve CoSIDA, and look forward to continue working with him in the next couple of years.
In addition, John Arenberg of Emory has also left the profession, and therefore vacated his spot as a College Division Representative for the South Atlantic Region. We appreciate everything Arenberg did as a Board member, and are grateful for his contribution to CoSIDA.
According to the CoSIDA Constitution, this spot is replaced by an appointee from the President. As the 2005-06 President, it is my pleasure to announce that April Emory of Elizabeth City State University has agreed to fill the spot of College Division Representative. Emory is the sports information and public relations director at ECSU, and has served in that role since 2001.
Prior to that, Emory was the SID at her alma mater, St. Paul's College in Virginia from 1999-2001. She has been a member of CoSIDA since 1999 and served on the CoSIDA Scholarship Committee since 2003. She has been vice president of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association SID Association since 1999 and was secretary of the Black College Sports Information Directors Association in 2002-03.
CoSIDA is very fortunate to have these two individuals step up and take an active role in the Board of Directors and we are very appreciative of their accepting these position.
